Compare Spain shipping prices
Spain is a part of the European Union, and as such has embraced the free movement of goods throughout the union. This means that if you’re shipping from within the EU, then there is no need for customs paperwork and your goods will not have duties or taxes levied when entering Spain. However, when sending from elsewhere all packages worth more than €150 will have to pay duties and taxes.

Customs in Spain
Spain is a part of the European Union, and as such has embraced the free movement of goods throughout the union. This means that if you’re shipping from within the EU, then there is no need for customs paperwork and your goods will not have duties or taxes levied when entering Spain. However, when sending from elsewhere (and remember the UK is no longer in the EU) all packages worth more than €150 will have to pay duties and taxes.
As of 1 July, 2026, the EU has removed its de minimis exemption on low-value packages entering the EU. That means all parcels entering the EU may be liable for Customs duties. Small businesses should be aware that a flat customs duty of €3 now applies to all business-to-consumer (B2C) parcels valued under €150. The €3 charge is applied per item classification, so a parcel containing multiple different types of goods may incur multiple €3 charges.

Collection & Delivery
Courier collection
When you’ve made a booking with ParcelCompare, we will be able to pick-up parcels from many locations across the UK and Spain on the same day.
If your goods are larger than 180cm or heavier than 50kg, packages of this size require an advance booking of 24 hours. In this case, you will also be required to assist your courier in loading and unloading the delivery.
If you’re sending a pallet or an item requiring a tail lift or pallet truck, please contact our customer care team prior to collection.
Spain delivery
With the exception of our timed delivery services, we will attempt to deliver your package between 9am and 7pm on normal working days. If our first attempt is not successful and we cannot leave the package in a safe place, most couriers will make two further attempts at delivery however DPP only make one attempt.
Some of our delivery partners, like UPS, may sometimes leave parcels in a safe place without taking a signature to confirm delivery. If you need proof of delivery, please use the upgrade option ‘Signature required’ on our ‘select service page’.
Tracking when shipping to Spain
When you ship with Parcelcompare, we want you to know that your parcel is in the best possible hands. With that in mind, we offer door-to-door tracking with every parcel – so you can follow the progress from the moment you hand over your package to your courier until it is passed over to its recipient.
If there is a problem with your package you’ll be notified as soon as you track your parcel, and if you need to contact us our UK-based customer services team will be on hand to help you get your parcel moving again.
And, so you’re definitely in the loop, we’ll also send you and your recipient emails so that everyone knows if your shipment encounters a delay.
Sending gifts to Spain
Just like sending a normal parcel, if you’re sending a gift from within the EU then there is no need to worry about duties or taxes. If you’re sending from outside the European Union, there is a gift exemption for parcels worth less than €45 that means that you won’t need to pay any fees when importing. When gift shipments are worth more than that, you will only pay duties and taxes above the threshold amount.
When a package has duties or taxes applied, the recipient will be contacted to pay the fees. Until they do so, the parcel will not be released from customs. If you would prefer that the sender pays the customs, please get in touch with our customer services team who can help you get the charges reversed. Don’t forget that if the fees are not paid, the shipment will not be released from customs and may be destroyed.
Large parcel and air freight
Even the largest and heaviest parcels can be sent with Parcelcompare – we have great specialty partners and offer cheap and reliable shipping of oversized or bulky items that are as heavy as 1,000kg in weight, including pallets. When using our air freight or pallet shipping services to send large or heavy shipments to Spain, you just need to remember to book at least 24 hours in advance and be on hand when your courier arrives to offer assistance in loading and unloading your shipment.
Sending food to Spain
Spanish food is delicious – there’s a reason it’s world renowned! – but there is only so much Pulpo a la Gallega, Jamon or Chorizo one person can eat, and sometimes we yearn for the taste of home. Parcelcompare makes it easy to send food to Spain, but there are a couple of things that are important to keep in mind.
What you can send:
Non-perishable foods
Store bought foods with a best before date over 6 months away
Items must be in the original manufacturers packaging and unopened
The food label needs to list all the ingredients
The best before date must be displayed on the packaging
Examples of pershable foods: Crisp and savory foods, Chocolates and candy, Canned foods, Herbs and Spices in sealed containers, tea bags, Jams and other preserves
What you cannot send:
Perishable foods
Foods with a shelf life of less than 6 months
Homemade foods or any foods not in the original manufacturers packaging
Foods that can spoil during transit
Food in packaging that have been opened
Food that does not contain a food label listing the ingredients
Packaging your parcel
International shipping isn’t a gentle industry, and moving goods around the world takes a lot of people and handling. By the time your parcel is at its Spanish destination it will have passed through the hands of dozens of people. If you’d like your goods to arrive in the same condition that they left in, it’s vital that you properly package them.
When you’re packing your goods, there are three main things to keep in mind to make sure that there aren’t any issues while shipping:
1. BOX STRENGTH
The best way to make sure that there are no problems during the shipping procedure is to pick the best box. We suggest that you use a new box for every shipment – old boxes can become weak. Double corrugated boxes are the strongest, so we suggest that you use those.
2. INTERNAL PACKAGING
There are two key aspects of the internal packaging for your box: the actual wrappings of the goods, and the soft supporting material. It’s important to use plenty of wrapping for your goods – there should be several inches of wrapping on all sides. Surround your goods with packaging material – they should be suspended, not touching any part of the box.
3. LABELLING AND TAPING
If you are not using a new box, make sure to remove all prior labelling from it. If you do not, there may be problems in delivering your package. When sealing up your box, use strong packaging tape. This is important as the tape gives the box extra strength, and helps shore up any weaknesses there may be in the box. Tape up in both directions, wrapping the entire box at least three times in each direction. Make sure to also pay extra attention to the corners – they tend to be the weakest points.
Holidays and gift giving occasions in Spain
As well as the odd siesta, there are plenty of occasions to have a break in Spain. We’ve collected most Spanish public holidays below, but there are others not on the list, so make sure you check before you send. Remember, packages aren’t collected or delivered on public holidays, so make sure that you factor in a couple of days to your shipping times if you’re sending around the dates below.
