Customs in Cyprus
As Cyprus is part of the European Union, shipments from within the EU can enter the country without having to pay duties or taxes. You will still need to properly declare the contents of your shipment.
However, shipments from outside of the European Union will still be subject to duties and taxes, unless they are worth less than €150. If the package is worth more than this, duties and taxes will be applied before the parcel will be cleared from customs. Make sure to accurately declare your goods on your customs paperwork to avoid any problems in clearing customs.
Courier collection
For parcels sent from most locations throughout the UK and Cyprus, we can collect same day.
However, for parcels that are especially large or heavy advance booking will be required. That means that if your package is over 50kg or longer than 180cm in size, you will need to book a day in advance. You’ll also need to provide your courier with assistance in loading and unloading the parcel.
If you’re sending a pallet or an item requiring a tail lift or pallet truck, please contact our customer care team prior to collection.
Cyprus delivery
Unless you’ve chosen to use one our timed delivery services, we will deliver your parcel in Cyprus between 9am and 7pm Monday to Friday. If the first delivery attempt cannot be completed, two more attempts will be made, after with the parcel will be returned to the sender.
For most deliveries we will also obtain proof of delivery, but some of our partner couriers, such as UPS, may leave parcels in a safe place without a signature. If you need proof of delivery, please use the upgrade option ‘Signature required’ on our ‘select service page’
Tracking when shipping to Cyprus
When you make a booking with Parcelcompare, we give you free door to door tracking to make sure that you’re in the loop every step of the way. You can follow your parcel’s journey from the UK to Cyprus, and in the unlikely event that there’s a problem, we can keep you fully informed. Any delays will change your package status to ‘exception’ along with a scan to notify you of the delay.
Plus, just to make sure, we’ll also send you an email explaining the status of your shipment and, if you’ve provided us with your receiver’s email address, we’ll drop them one too. That way, no one will be surprised if there’s a problem or delay.
Sending gifts to Cyprus
If you’re sending to Cyprus from the EU, there’s no need to worry about duties and taxes. However, if you’re sending from outside of the European Union, there is a gift exemption for goods worth less than €45. Goods worth more than this may have fees applied before they are cleared from customs.
When you are sending gifts, it can be tempting to treat the contents of the package as a surprise. However, this may cause problems in clearing customs, so be sure to properly declare the contents of your parcel – simply declaring “Gift” is insufficient.

Packaging your parcel
By the time your parcel arrives in Cyprus it will have been handled multiple times by many couriers. To make sure that your package’s contents don’t have any problems and arrive in one happy piece, it’s vital to ensure that you properly protect them before they are shipped.
If you’re concerned about your package arriving in good condition, there are a couple of key points to keep in mind while packaging it:
1. USE THE BEST BOX
Get a box which is suitable for the job. This means that it should preferably be new and, if your contents weigh more than 10kg, double-lined. Old boxes may seem like a money saving option, but they may be liable to burst or be crushed, and your shipment could be damaged or lost on the way.
2. PACK IT TIGHTLY
Wrap up each item before you place them in the box and secure any moving parts. Use bubble wrap, packing peanuts or other packing materials to fill space in the box and allow at least 6cm between the contents and the interior box wall. Nothing should move if you shake it.
3. SEAL FOR DELIVERY
Use parcel tape and be generous. Go around your parcel three times in each direction to form a Union Jack flag pattern of tape. This should cover all corners and joins. Make sure your shipping label is the only one on the box and display it clearly. You may be able to get a document wallet from the courier.
