Customs in Italy
Because Italy is a part of the European Union, any packages coming from the UK, or any other country inside the EU, will not have any duties and taxes applied when clearing customs. Shipments from elsewhere in the world, however, will have to pay duties and taxes on most parcels before they can be cleared from customs.
Make sure to properly declare the contents of your package so that there aren’t any problems when clearing customs – use the full name and value of your goods in the customs paperwork.
As of 1 July, 2026, the EU has removed its de minimis exemption on low-value packages entering the EU. That means all parcels entering the EU may be liable for Customs duties. Small businesses should be aware that a flat customs duty of €3 now applies to all business-to-consumer (B2C) parcels valued under €150. The €3 charge is applied per item classification, so a parcel containing multiple different types of goods may incur multiple €3 charges.
Collection & delivery
Courier collection
Once you’ve booked your collection, we can pick-up your parcel on the very same day from most locations across the UK.
If your shipment weighs more than 50kg, or is longer than 180cm, you will need to book 24 hours in advance and provide assistance for your courier in loading or unloading the delivery.
If you’re sending a pallet or an item requiring a tail lift or pallet truck, please contact our customer care team prior to collection.
Parcel delivery
We only deliver on normal working weekdays between 9am and 7pm, unless you have chosen one our timed delivery services. If the first attempt is unsuccessful, most of our couriers will make another two attempts, however some couriers like DPD only make one attempt.
Although we offer door-to-door tracking, some of our partners, such as UPS, do sometimes leave parcels in a safe place without requiring a signature. If you need proof of delivery, please use the upgrade option ‘Signature required’ on our ‘select service page’

Packaging your parcel
When it comes to shipping internationally, there’s a lot of process. By the time your package arrives in Italy, it will have changed hands – and trucks or planes – several times. A very small amount of parcels are damaged every year, but it does happen, so it’s very important to make sure that you have properly packaged your goods before they are shipped.
If you would like your goods to arrive in the same condition that they left in, there are three important things to keep in mind when packaging them:
1. THE BOX
A second-hand box may seem like a good deal, but any money you save could well be lost if it bursts in transit and your goods are lost or damaged. Buy new, and if the contents weigh more than 10kg, buy a double-lined box.
2. GET PACKING
Could your package survive being dropped from chest height? If you’ve packed it properly it should. Wrap every item individually, then place in your box with packing material in the gaps, so that there is at least 6cm between the box walls and your goods.
3. THE TAPE
Use strong parcel tape because it’s tape designed specifically for parcels. Wrap round your box three times in a Union Jack flag pattern, covering all joins and corners, and then secure your shipping label so that everything on it can be read by our courier.
Holidays and gift giving occasions in Italy
There are plenty of reasons to celebrate in Italy, so we’ve gathered up a list of days to keep in mind when you’re shipping. Remember, packages are not collected or delivered on public holidays, so if you’re sending around the dates below, you may need to factor in a couple of extra days for your parcel to be delivered.
