Customs in Greece
When you're sending to Greece from inside Europe, European Union rules mean that you don't have to worry about duties and taxes. If you're sending from elsewhere however, duties and taxes will be applied on shipments coming into Greece that are worth more than €150.
One of the most common causes of delays and problems with shipping internationally comes from incorrect paperwork. Be sure to accurately declare the value and nature of your goods to help make sure that there aren't problems in clearing customs.

When you book a shipment with ParcelCompare, we will collect your parcel on the same day from most locations in both Greece and the UK. If you're not available for a collection, you can make use of a local drop-off points to leave your package at your convenience.
If you are booking delivery of a package that is particularly large or bulky, you will need to book your collection a day in advance. And if you are shipping goods on a pallet, or goods that have other special requirements, just let us know in advance.
Greece courier delivery
Unless you've chosen to use one of our timed delivery services, we won't be able to tell you a time range when your parcel will be delivered. All we can tell you is that your package will arrive between 9am and 7pm on normal working days. Delivery won't be made on weekends or public holidays.
If you're not available to take delivery of your goods, you can send to a nearby drop-off point. You can then collect your parcel at your convenience, and drop-off points are often open outside of normal working hours.
Track and trace your parcel to Greece

One of the most common difficulties with shipping internationally stems from simply declaring the contents of a shipment as a “Gift”. It's important to be descriptive with your customs paperwork, so it's better to declare as “Gift – hardcover books”, for example.

Packaging your parcel
Shipping to Greece may not be the sort of epic tale that goes down in Greek mythology, but your package will change hands multiple times on its journey. It's important to keep your goods well packaged to make sure that they arrive in great condition.
When packing your goods, there are three key points to keep in mind:
1. GET A STURDY BOX
Make sure to get a new box. Older boxes could burst or be crushed in transit, or be concealing other weaknesses. For parcels that weigh more than 10kg in particular, make sure to use a new, double-corrugated box for the best protection.
2. PACK THE CONTENTS
Start by wrapping each item individually with bubble wrap or other wrapping materials. Place your items in the box and surround with packaging peanuts or other packaging goods. They should be snugly supported, and shouldn't move when the box is shaken.
3. SEAL IT UP
Proper packaging tape can help support your box's weak points. Wrap in the shape of a Union Flag three times, paying special attention to seals and corners. Attach labels to your box so that the barcode and all info is easily visible.
Holidays and gift giving occasions in Greece
The Greeks have a long and storied history of celebrations, whether it's by holding the very first Olympics or just celebrating their god of wine. Nowadays they have their fair share of public holidays to enjoy throughout the year. Bear in mind that packages won't be picked up or delivered on public holidays, so if you're sending around a public holiday try to book in advance to allow time for your package to get to its recipient.
