Customs in Sweden

Sweden is part of the EU, which means that if you’re sending packages to it from another EU country, such as (for the time being) the UK, you won’t have to pay duties and taxes.

If, however, you are sending from a country not fortunate enough to be a member of the EU, you will have VAT applied to parcels over 300 Swedish Krona (SEK) in value and other duties applied to shipments valued at more than 1,300 SEK.

Collection & delivery

Courier collection

If your parcel is under 50kg in weight, we can collect on the same day you book from the majority of addresses throughout the UK and Sweden. For larger parcels over 50kg or 180cm in length you need to book 24 hours in advance.

Health and safety regulations require that for oversized parcels you provide our driver with help loading and unloading the van. If you require a pallet truck or vehicle with a tail-lift then just let us know when you book.

Sweden courier delivery

We deliver between 9am and 7pm on working weekdays. This means that parcels will not arrive on bank holidays in Sweden, so be sure to check our list below before sending.

You can book timed delivery slots with us to narrow your delivery window, although we will still not be able to tell you the exact time our courier will arrive. If you want to ensure that you get confirmation of delivery, then upgrade to our ‘signed-for’ option when booking.

Tracking your parcel delivery to Sweden

Parcelcompare is the one of the only sites which allows you to compare courier prices, book deliveries and track them every step of the way, all in one place.

As your parcel makes its way to Sweden it will be sorted in depots, travel through various European countries and travel in various vehicles, and each time it changes hands it will be scanned. We make these scans available to you as they happen, so you’ll always know what progress your package is making.

Sending gifts to Sweden

One of the benefits of being a member of the EU is that you can send a present from any EU country to Sweden without paying any duties or taxes. If, however you’re sending from a country outside the EU then you will pay duties and taxes on any presents worth more than 500 Swedish Krona.

To qualify as a gift your parcel must be sent to a specific individual, not a business, which means that you must include a receiver name when sending

Packaging your parcel

If you’re sending to Sweden then your parcel is going to go on a journey over land and sea, surrounded by other packages, big and small. In these conditions it’s bound to get the occasional knock or squeeze, so the best way to ensure your goods are kept pristine is to pack them properly with these three simple steps:

1. Get a new box

A used box may seem like a perfectly good money-saving option, but even if it looks okay, it could be hiding weaknesses which only reveal themselves when it bursts in transit. Get a new box instead.

2. Pack your box

Wrap every item individually before nestling it in packaging material, such as packing peanuts, inside your box. Fill all the gaps and keep your goods at least 6cm from the box walls.

Seal your box

Sellotape will sadly get you nowhere – use proper parcel tape, and wrap around your box three times in a Union Flag pattern. Ensure that the shipping label is firmly attached with the barcode visible.

Holidays and gift giving occasions in Sweden
