Customs in Romania
If you’re sending from the UK to Romania then, for the time being, you are shipping within the EU, so you will not have to worry about duties or taxes. If you are sending from outside the EU then any shipments worth more than €10 will be charged VAT, and anything over €150 in value will be charged duties.
Duties and taxes are calculated by Romanian customs and will be charged to the receiver. Parcelcompare automatically creates all the forms you need to clear customs when you book.

Romania Courier Delivery
Our courier will arrive between 9am and 7pm. If there’s no sign of them by 4pm then please tracking your parcel, if it’s showing as out for delivery, then contact the delivering courier.
If nobody is home to receive your package then some carriers may leave it in a safe place, such as a porch or lobby. If you want to ensure that your parcel is delivered into someone’s hands, then choose our ‘signed for’ upgrade when you make your booking.
Tracking your Parcel to Romania
When our driver picks up your parcel he doesn’t just drive it straight to Romania to hand it over in person. Apart from anything else, that would take more than just one day to deliver.
Instead, your parcel will travel by road and air, through sorting depots and customs. At every point on its journey the package’s barcode will be scanned. Parcelcompare lets you see these scans as they happen, so you can follow your shipment to its destination one step at a time.
And should there be any delays on the way we will email you and your receiver to let you know.
Sending Gifts to Romania
If you’re sending a present to Romania from within the EU then, as with other packages, you don’t need to worry about duties or taxes. If you are sending a gift from outside the EU then there is an allowance of €45, under the value of which, your parcel will not be taxed.
To qualify for this allowance, as well as describing the contents of your parcel, you must also write ‘gift shipment’ on your customs invoice.

Food that does not contain a food label listing the ingredients
Packaging your Parcel
From the UK to Romania, your parcel is going to pass through many places, often surrounded by other packages, all whizzing to their destination. As such, it is going to need to be protected from the dinks and donks which come with fast-paced delivery. The best way to achieve this is to follow our three-step packaging guide.
1. BOX CLEVER
A second-hand box might seem like a good option, but it could hide weaknesses which will lead to your package bursting or collapsing in transit. The smart move is to buy a new box that will fit both your items and adequate packaging.
2. PACK MENTALITY
Encase each item you’re sending in packaging, such as Styrofoam, then place your goods into your box, surrounded by more of the same. There should be 6cm between your box walls and your items and nothing should move when you shake.
3. SEAL OF APPROVAL
Using robust, strong parcel tape, wrap your box thrice round in a Union Flag pattern. Cover all corners and joins, as these are the weakest parts of any box. Make sure yours are the only shipping labels on your box and that they’re firmly attached.
