Clearing Czech custom
The Czech Republic is part of the European Union, which means that if you’re sending from another EU country you will benefit from not having duties and taxes charged on your shipment. If you are sending from outside the EU then you will not receive this benefit and any parcels worth more than EUR 150 will be charged duties and taxes.
Parcelcompare produces all the paperwork you need to clear customs, you just need to be sure that you’re clear and accurate with the information you provide when booking.

Have an urgent delivery need? Book early enough and we’ll be round to pick up your parcel on the very same day.
This doesn’t apply for big and bulky packages however, which you will need to book a day in advance, so we can ensure we have sufficient space on our van.
We can’t tell you exactly when we’re going to turn up to collect, only that it will be between 9am and 7pm on a working weekday, but you can drop off your parcel if you can’t wait home.
Czech Republic delivery
It’s a frustrating feeling to send a shipment abroad only to have it bounce back to you just because there was nobody at the delivery address to receive it.
Some of our couriers may leave a parcel in a safe place, such as a porch, and others will make multiple delivery attempts, but the best way to avoid a returned shipment is to simply make sure there’s someone at the delivery address on the date we’re due to deliver. If our driver hasn’t arrived by 4pm on the due date, then contact our customer services.

Sending gifts to the Czech Republic
If you want to ship a gift to a loved one in Prague it couldn’t be easier with Parcelcompare. If you’re sending from the UK to the Czech Republic then your gift will not have duties or taxes applied, as both countries are (for the time being) members of the European Union.
If you’re sending a gift from outside the EU then the same €150 limit applies, above the value of which your parcel will be subject to duties and taxes.
You may want the contents of your parcel to be a surprise to the receiver, but don’t make them a surprise to customs officers – declare exactly what you’re sending on all forms.

What you can send:
Non-perishable foods
Store bought foods with a best before date over 6 months away
Items must be in the original manufacturers packaging and unopened
The food label needs to list all the ingredients
The best before date must be displayed on the packaging
Examples of pershable foods: Crisp and savory foods, Chocolates and candy, Canned foods, Herbs and Spices in sealed containers, tea bags, Jams and other preserves
What you cannot send:
Perishable foods
Foods with a shelf life of less than 6 months
Homemade foods or any foods not in the original manufacturers packaging
Foods that can spoil during transit
Food in packaging that have been opened
Food that does not contain a food label listing the ingredients
Packaging your parcel
If the contents of your parcel are important to you then its packaging should be too. Follow our simple three step guide and you can rest assured that your goods are well protected on their delivery.

1. GET A NEW BOX
Old boxes are weak, new boxes are strong. Don’t let your parcel be weak. Buy a new box and your package will have the strength to carry even more boxes stacked on top of it.
2. FILL THE BIX
Encase your goods one at a time in packaging material, then rest them on a bed of more packaging material and fill the gaps with even more packaging material. Once the box is full nothing should move when you give it a shake.
3. SEAL FOR DELIVERY
Wrapping three times around your box with parcel tape in a Union Flag pattern will max out your box’s strength. Attach your shipping label carefully so that it is secure and the barcode is clearly visible.
