Customs in Malaysia
When sending to Malaysia from the UK, or any other country, every shipment passes through customs and may have duties or taxes applied. Packages worth less than 500 Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) will not have fees applied during the customs clearing process, but shipments worth more will have duties and taxes levied. If this is a case, the parcel will be kept in customs until the fees are paid.

Collection & delivery
Courier collection
Book early to get same-day collection for parcels under 50kg from most areas of the UK. If your package is heavier, or longer than 180cm on its longest side, then we’re going to need 24 hours’ notice.
If you’re sending a large or heavy shipment to Malaysia then you will need to give our driver assistance in loading it into the van, and if you need a vehicle with a tail-lift, or a pallet truck, then then contact our customer services and we’ll arrange it.
Malaysia delivery
We will drop off regular deliveries at their destination between 9am and 7pm on normal working days. When sending to Malaysia you can also upgrade to a timed delivery option, which will mean your parcel is delivered before noon. If the courier has not delivered by 4pm, we recommend you contact the delivering courier directly. If you want proof that your delivery has arrived, then you can add our ‘signature required’ upgrade to your order and our courier will ensure they get the receiver to sign for your package.
Tracking your delivery to Malaysia

Sending gifts to Malaysia
When sending gifts to Malaysia there is an exemption from duties and customs for shipments worth up to 500 Ringgit. That means that low value gifts will not attract fees during clearance, but if the present you’re sending is worth more than 500 Ringgit then duties and taxes will likely be applied.
In order to receive a gift exemption, you must declare that the package contains a gift. You will also need to declare the exact nature of the gift, including the value of the goods. If you simply declare that the goods are a gift, there may be difficulties in clearing customs.
Large parcel and air freight to Malaysia
Not every package can be easily held in your hand. If you are looking to ship something large or heavy to Malaysia, then Parcelcompare has the experience and expertise to ensure it gets there safely. We can handle packages that are up to 270cm in length and 1,000 kg in weight, including pallets, as long as you book at least 24 hours in advance.

Sending food to Malaysia
Although Malaysia offers plenty to delight the tongue, if you’ve had enough of Roti Canai or Curry Laksa, you may be desperate to have that hard-to-find snack sent from home. Parcelcompare makes it easy to send food to Malaysia, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
There are several rules and regulations around shipping food internationally. It’s one of our most popular shipments however, and we know exactly how to make sure that there aren’t any problems in getting your tasty treats wherever they are headed.

Items must be in the original manufacturers packaging and unopened
The food label needs to list all the ingredients
The best before date must be displayed on the packaging
Examples of pershable foods: Crisp and savory foods, Chocolates and candy, Canned foods, Herbs and Spices in sealed containers, tea bags, Jams and other preserves
What you cannot send:
Perishable foods
Foods with a shelf life of less than 6 months
Homemade foods or any foods not in the original manufacturers packaging
Foods that can spoil during transit
Food in packaging that have been opened
Food that does not contain a food label listing the ingredients
Packaging your parcel
With an entire ocean to traverse, it should come as no surprise that your package risks a few bumps or knocks during its journey. To make sure your goods arrive in good condition, you should properly package them.
1. Get a new box
This is the first line of defence for books and priceless statues alike. Make sure you use a new, double corrugated cardboard box – old boxes are liable to burst or be crushed on the journey.
2. Pack your box
Wrap your goods individually, after all, you don’t want them to damage each other. Surround them in your box with plenty of packaging material, and make sure they don’t move at all.
Seal your box
Your packing tape can help protect your box’s weakest points, so be generous. Wrap around your box three times in a union flag pattern, then add your labels so that all information can be seen.
Holidays and gift giving occasions in Malaysia
There are plenty of reasons to celebrate in Malaysia, and there are plenty of chances to do so, as the country has among the most public holidays in the world. When you’re celebrating a bank holiday, parcels aren’t collected or delivered, so if you’re sending to Malaysia around the dates below remember to factor in a couple of extra days for your parcel to be delivered.
