Customs in Finland
Since Finland is a part of the European Union, shipments that start in the EU will not have to worry about duties or taxes when clearing Finnish customs. Packages from other destinations may have to pay fees when clearing customs, but parcels worth less than €150 will be exempt.
To make sure that there are no problems in clearing customs and that proper fees are applied, you need to make sure that you fully declare the nature and value of your goods.

Courier collection
Once you’ve compared prices and made your booking with Parcelcompare, the gears start turning quickly. We can have your package out of your hands on the very same day that you make your booking, and winging it’s way over to Finland as soon as possible.
If you’d rather not wait for our courier to collect, you can make your own smaller delivery to your local Access Point. Then you can go about your day, and we’ll fetch your parcel from that point and the shipping process continues as normal.
Finland delivery
When your package reaches its final destination, we’ll put your parcel in your receiver’s hands between 9am and 7pm. We give you proof that your parcel has been delivered, so they will need to be present and ready to sign for the delivery.
If they are not available, we will make up to three attempts before returning the package to the sender. You may have to pay for this return journey, so make sure that your recipient is aware that the parcel is on its way.
Tracking when shipping to Finland
It might not be Pokemon Go, but Parcelcompare has our own map based experience on your mobile; real-time parcel tracking. You’ll be able to see every stop that your parcel makes on its journey to Finland. You may not be able to catch stray packages, but you’ll always be up to date on the status of your own shipment.
And in the unlikely event that there’s a problem with your parcel, you’ll be the first to know. We’ll get in contact with you and your receiver as soon as we spot that there’s an issue, and explain exactly how to get it sorted.
Sending gifts to Finland
Just like a normal package shipment, sending a gift to Finland from the European Union means that you don’t need to worry about paying duties and taxes when it enters that country. This is the case for low value gifts from outside the EU too; gifts worth less than €45 don’t have fees applied.
To take advantage of this exemption, be sure to make it clear that your goods are being sent as a gift. Don’t forget to fully declare the nature and value of your items however; simply declaring that they are gifts is insufficient.
Sending food to Finland
There are few things that Parcelcompare can’t send, and food is not one of those things. We make it simple to ship food, but there are some things to keep in mind when you’re planning a shipment that includes food. Make sure that you’re following the rules below when you pack your food for shipping.
So if you’d like to ship some tasty bon bons to Espoo, or you want to send a whole pallet full of Salmiakki to Manchester, Parcelcompare makes it simple to ship food internationally.
Large parcel and air freight
You might be surprised at some of the things that Parcelcompare ships; we don’t flinch at even the largest and bulkiest goods. We work with specialist shipping partners to deliver excellent savings for hefty goods and pallet shipments alike. We’ll do all the heavy lifting; all you need to do is give us your shipment details at least a day in advance, and be on hand when your courier arrives to offer assistance in loading or unloading your goods.

Packaging your parcel
It probably won’t have to survive rough seas, but there’s every chance that your package will take some knocks and bumps while it travels the world. To make sure that there is no damage to your goods, you’ll need to properly package your goods.
1. GET A STURDY BOX
A strong box is the first line of defence, and there’s nothing better than a new, double corrugated box for protecting your goods. An older box may look good – but they could be concealing a weakness that may lead to your box being crushed or bursting in transit.
2. PACK THE CONTENTS
Be generous with your packaging materials, especially if you’re sending multiple items. Wrap each individually before placing them in the box, then suspend them in shipping material. No part of your goods should be touching the walls of your box.
3. SEAL FOR DELIVERY
You should also be generous with the packing tape too – it can help protect your box’s weakest points. Wrap three times in a union flag pattern, with special attention on seals and corners. Then add your labels, so that all information is clearly visible.
Holidays and gift giving occasions in Finland
You love the chance for an extra day off every now and then, and so do we. That’s why we don’t make deliveries on bank holidays – if you are planning to send a shipment to arrive on one of the days we’ve collected below, you should keep that in mind.
