Customs in Ghana
When you're shipping to Ghana, your package passes through customs and has duties and taxes applied. There is a small low value exemption, so packages worth less than 5 USD will not have fees applied, but since this is so minimal, nearly all parcels will have duties attached. If this is the case, the receiver is responsible for paying the duties and taxes before the shipment will be released from customs.
One of the most common mistakes when shipping internationally is having poor paperwork. Parcelcompare will generate everything you need when you order, just make sure that your information is accurate.

Collection & delivery
Courier collection
As long as you book in time we will be able to collect your package on the very same day that you make your booking, from most locations throughout Ghana and the UK.
This is not the case for packages that are particularly bulky or heavy. Instead, they will have to be booked a day in advance. This applies to parcels that weigh more than 50kg or are longer than 180cm.
If you require a tail lift or pallet truck, or any other special requirements, please contact our customer services team so we can arrange this in advance.
Ghana delivery
Unless you have chosen to use one of our timed delivery services, your package will be delivered between 9am and 7pm during the normal working week. With our timed delivery services, your parcel will be delivered in a slot of your choice.
We make three attempts at delivery as standard, though some delivery partners will only make one before dropping your package at a nearby collection point. As with delivery, if you are shipping a bulky or oversized item then your receiver will need to help our driver unload it from the van.
Tracking when shipping to Ghana

Sending gifts to Ghana
Unlike sending normal parcels, there's no gift exemption when you're shipping to Ghana. That means that all gifts entering the country will have duties and taxes applied to them during customs clearance, which the receiver of the parcel will be responsible for paying.
The main mistake made when shipping gifts is not being specific enough on the customs paperwork. If you were to just declare that it's a “Gift”, there may be problems during customs clearing. If you declare that it's a “Gift – plastic domino board game”, there probably won't.
Large and heavy shipments to Ghana
Heavy or bulky parcels are no problem for Parcelcompare – we specialise in shipping parcels that are as long as 270cm and are up to 1,000kg in weight. We even carry goods on pallets and air freight. All you need to remember when shipping large packages is that you'll need to book at least a day in advance, and make sure that you are on hand when your courier arrives, so you can offer assistance in loading your goods.

Packaging your parcel
When it comes to shipping internationally, it's vital to make sure that your goods are properly packaged. By doing so, you can make sure that there is no need to worry while your parcel wings its way across the world.
When packing your goods, there are three key points:
1. GET A STURDY BOX
It's important to make sure you're using a strong box. We suggest using a new double corrugated box, as older boxes may be concealing weaknesses that could lead to your box bursting or being crushed in transit.
2. PACK THE CONTENTS
Wrap each of your goods individually before placing them into your box. You should surround them with packaging material so that no part of your goods are touching the walls of your box.
3. SEAL IT UP
Use strong packaging tape to help protect your box's weak points. Wrap your box three times in a Union Flag pattern, with extra tape on the corners and seals. Add your labels so that the barcode is clearly visible.
