Clearing Chilean customs
When sending to Chile from the UK your package will have to pass through customs, where it may be opened and the contents inspected by officials.
If the value of your parcel is more than US$30 then it becomes eligible to duties and taxes, which will be calculated by customs and charged to your receiver.
To avoid delays at this stage, check prohibited items lists before sending and be sure to be thorough with your paperwork. Parcelcompare creates all the forms you need when you book.

Collection & delivery
Collection
We will collect your package right from your door, often on the day you book in the UK, if you get your order in early enough.
A missed collection can lead to a delayed delivery, so if you don’t think you’ll be in all day to hand over your parcel to our driver then consider using our drop off service instead which allow you to drop-off your parcel at a local retailer, for our driver to collect later. If you choose this option, you still need to print out shipping labels prior to dropping off.
Delivery
Unless you’re a late-riser there’s little chance our driver is going to disturb your slumbers, as we only deliver between 9am and 7pm on working weekdays. This also means no waiting in on public holidays, as our couriers take a day off too.
If you are sending something particularly big or bulky to Chile then you will need to ensure that someone is on-hand to help our driver both with loading and unloading the van. If you need a pallet truck or other equipment for this then contact our customer services when you book.
Tracking your delivery to Chile

Perishable foods
Foods with a shelf life of less than 6 months
Homemade foods or any foods not in the original manufacturers packaging
Foods that can spoil during transit
Food in packaging that have been opened
Food that does not contain a food label listing the ingredients
Packaging your parcel
Don’t enter into international shipping unprotected – follow Parcelcompare’s simple guide to packing your goods and you can be confident that they will arrive in the condition they left you.
1. USE A NEW BOX
Second-hand boxes will have already had pressure put upon them, leading to weaknesses which you may not even be able to see. A new box is a sensible investment. If your items weigh 10kg or more go for a double-lined box.
2. PROTECT YOUR GOODS
Wrap around each item carefully with packaging material, such as bubble wrap. Fill your box with more packaging material, with your items cushioned in the middle, at least 6cm from the box’s internal walls.
3. SEAL IT
Use tape that is specifically designed for parcels, and use plenty of it. Wrap around your box in a Union Flag pattern, three times in each direction. Some couriers will carry a pouch for your labels, but it’s better to stick them on yourself before collection to save time.
Public holidays in Chile
When the people of Chile celebrate, so do our couriers. This means that no packages are collected or delivered during national holidays in Chile.
