Prohibited and restricted items when sending to Canada
Every country has a list of items that they don’t permit, thanks to food, health and safety or environmental restrictions. Equally, many couriers have their own lists of items that they don’t take – check out Parcelcompare’s restricted items list . Canada has made it easy to see whether whatever is being shipped is restricted with their reference system – just enter your item to find out if there are any restriction about importing it.
There are also some goods that are totally banned from import into Canada:
Obscene or Pornographic material
Coins and cash
Counterfeit goods
Anything made or crafted in prisons
Used mattresses or cushioning from used mattresses
Items that misrepresent their place of origin
Second-hand cars
White phosphorous matches
Anything goods that might include hate speech or sedition
These goods are all banned from import into Canada, and should be noted in conjunction with ParcelCompare’s own list of prohibited goods, and the items forbidden by the IATA.
